Along with new AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR lens, Nikon also announced two super telephoto prime lenses today: AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4E FL ED VR (Sample Images)and AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR (Sample Images). Both are significantly lighter than the versions that preceded them and each use an electromagnetic diaphragm for more consistent exposure control during burst shooting. The Nikkor 500mm F4E weighs 6.8 lbs/3090 g as compared to 8.5 lb/3880 g of its predecessor, and includes three Extra Low Dispersion elements. The 600mm F4E is 3.2 lb/1450 g lighter than the preceding model, weighing 8.3 lb/3810 g. Both lenses use Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coating, two fluorite elements and VR rated to 4 stops of stabilization.
According to latest rumors from 43R, the upcoming Panasonic FZ300 will use Sony’s 4/3 sensor, and will be able to shoot 4K video full sensor readout clean. The lens will be Leica 24-400mm lens. Release date for this camera will be in September, 2015. According to the source, FZ300 will also replace current FZ1000.

Canon has officially announced the new PowerShot G3 X compact camera today. It offers a 1″-type 20.2MP CMOS sensor and 24-600mm f/2.8-5.6 equivalent lens. The G3 X also offers a dust and water-resistant construction, a Digic 6 image processor, Raw support, Wi-Fi with NFC and a 3.2″ tilting touch screen. Full HD video is offered at 60p, and continuous shooting is available at up to 5.9 fps with single AF. The price for G3 X is $999 in US, will be shipping in July.

Sony has just announced the new Sony a7RII full frame mirrorless camera, a 42.4MP mirrorless camera with an image stabilized full-frame BSI CMOS sensor. a7RII includes on-sensor phase detection elements for faster autofocus, which continues to work with other brands’ lenses. The camera also has a revised shutter mechanism, rated to 500,000 actuations but also promising less vibration than the one on its predecessor. The sensor is by far the largest backside illuminated CMOS chip to be released, allowing the maximum expanded ISO to rise two stops to 102,400.
Leica has finally announced the Leica Q Typ 116 fixed lens full frame compact came. The lens is stabilized 28mm F1.7 Summilux lens. It offers a 24MP CMOS sensor and a 3″ 1.04M dot touch-sensitive LCD. A built-in LCoS EVF offers an equivalent resolution of 3.68MP, and the Q skips a built-in flash but provides a standard hot shoe. Video recording at 1080/60p and built-in Wi-Fi are also offered.
