The site’s sources now say Canon’s next higher-end PowerShot will be a “departure” from the G7 X Mark III, and that you should not expect something that looks or behaves like the G7 series in a lot of ways.
That is a sharper claim than the spring talk of a G7X successor with “new technology” and a three-model PowerShot comeback. Those reports still matter as background. This update is about the premium compact specifically: it is not being drawn as a refreshed G7 X III.
