Nikon Rumors says the NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S is the next Nikon release, most likely at the end of October. The same report puts the Nikon Z70 in November, and says that camera announcement can still slip.
The lens itself is not a new rumor. Nikon announced development on May 7, 2026: a full-frame S-Line zoom with a built-in 1.4x teleconverter, covering 120-420mm once the converter is engaged, aimed at sports. Nikon did not give a price or a ship date, and said the finished lens may not look like the development photo. What changed on October 10 is the timing, the supply warning, and a price rumor.

What Nikon Rumors is adding
Production will be very limited, and waits are expected to be long. The price is only a rumor: higher than the NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S, which Nikon Rumors lists at $14,196.95 after a $500 rebate. Nikon has not confirmed either number for the 120-300mm.
The site also says several shops have opened pre-orders. The listings in the post show €100, which is a placeholder on those pages, not a selling price. One of the graphics is a dealer pre-booking poster with the shop name blacked out. Its availability line says the end of October, and the lens in the jungle scene is a render.
