In an unexpected revelation, Adorama (now deleted, see google cached page) appears to have more specific information about Canon’s forthcoming flagship camera, the EOS R1, than Canon itself disclosed during its recent announcement. Canon is developing the EOS R1, the first flagship model for the EOS R SYSTEM, aimed at professionals and set for release in 2024. The camera combines top-class performance, durability, and reliability, and features a new image processing system consisting of the DIGIC Accelerator and DIGIC X processors, along with a new CMOS sensor. This system enables high-speed data processing and significant advancements in Auto Focus (AF) and other functions. Canon’s launch cycle has been unconventional lately, likely due to past leaks of major products. Simon from The Ordinary Filmmaker reports that a source with a 75% hit rate claims Canon will officially announce two full-frame camera bodies this month. Interestingly, one of them isn’t the EOS R1, which is expected to have a similar development announcement and launch as the EOS R3 prior to the Tokyo games.
Canon has just registered a new camera code DS126904 in China. Currently, Canon has a total of five unannounced cameras registered in China.
