The cameras will be ready for use by photographers covering the Euro 2024 football tournament in June and the Summer Olympic Games in July. This launch strategy mirrors Canon’s approach with the EOS R3, where the camera was first put into the hands of working photographers at major events, allowing them to generate buzz and provide real-world feedback.
While the announcement is imminent, the cameras are unlikely to be available for consumer purchase until after these two major sporting events. This suggests a widespread launch in the late third quarter or fourth quarter of 2024.
