Canon Rumors says the photos are no longer mockups. A Reddit post dumped a set of Canon EOS R8 Mark II pictures that look like certification-house shots — white background, mixed color and grayscale, doors open — not a Canon campaign. CR’s line is blunt: “These images are 100% real.” They are still not official Canon marketing, and the camera is still unannounced.
That is the update after yesterday’s looks-like-Sony mockup. The top plate in this set is labeled EOS R8 Mark II. The back has the joystick the original R8 never got. The spec sheet next to the gallery is the same rumor list we already ran — treat the hardware in the photos as the news, and the 24MP / $1,799 column as still unofficial.

What the pictures actually show
Front-on, it is still a compact RF body: EVF hump, deep grip, no lens. The name lives on the top shoulder, not as a giant front badge. The mode dial in the leak carries the usual P / Tv / Av / M / Fv stack plus SCN, C1–C3, and an S&F slot. There is an M-Fn button, a stills/video toggle, and a multi-function hot shoe under a cover.

The rear is the argument. A joystick sits up by the EVF — Canon Rumors’ own writer compares the placement to the EOS R7 and is not a fan yet. AF-ON, a Q/SET wheel, and a vari-angle screen (Canon logo on the back of the panel) fill the rest of the cluster. One frame has the screen flipped out and the UI showing 1/16000 and ISO 102400 with an electronic-shutter icon, which matches the leak sheet’s “no mechanical shutter / 1/16,000” claim without proving it in a lab.
Card access has moved to a side door. The original R8 hid the SD next to the LP-E17 in the battery well; the leak sheet already said “SD card slot, side door,” and the photos show that door open. The battery door on the base is labeled BATT. OPEN. Do not read dual-card into this: the rumor list is still a single SD.
Left-side ports in the set: Canon Rumors’ author is already complaining about micro-HDMI (“glad I had an R3”). USB-C, a mic jack, and a remote socket are in the same cluster. That is a compact R8-class panel, not an R5 II brick.
The spec list did not suddenly become a datasheet
CR republishes the same unconfirmed column: 24MP (called an R6 II sensor), Dual Pixel AF II, 40fps electronic, 20fps pre-shoot, 7.5-stop IBIS, 4K/60p with 6K oversampling, 1080/180p, C-Log 3, LP-E17, $1,799 / €1,879, New York on September 15, ships October 2026. We covered that sheet here: 7.5-stop IBIS / no mechanical shutter. Nothing in these photos confirms IBIS stops or a 3D-from-2D mode.
