AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4E FL ED VR ($10,299), 600mm f/4E FL ED VR ($12,299) Lenses Announced !
Along with new AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR lens, Nikon also announced two super telephoto prime lenses today: AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4E FL ED VR (Sample Images)and AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR (Sample Images). Both are significantly lighter than the versions that preceded them and each use an electromagnetic diaphragm for more consistent exposure control during burst shooting. The Nikkor 500mm F4E weighs 6.8 lbs/3090 g as compared to 8.5 lb/3880 g of its predecessor, and includes three Extra Low Dispersion elements. The 600mm F4E is 3.2 lb/1450 g lighter than the preceding model, weighing 8.3 lb/3810 g. Both lenses use Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coating, two fluorite elements and VR rated to 4 stops of stabilization.
