Sony FE 50mm F1.2 GM Lens: the Best 50mm Lens for Full-Frame Mirrorless Cameras

Sony has just officially announced the new Sony FE 50mm F1.2 GM Lens (G Master). It can focus as closely as 40cm (15.6″) and has a max magnification of 0.17x. This new lens costs $1,998, first available for pre-order at B&H/ Adorama/ Amazon.

Ben Andrews tested this new lens and posted a full review at the digitalcameraworld. He made such a conclusion: it is the best 50mm Lens for Full-Frame Mirrorless Cameras, even better than the Canon RF 50mm F1.2L USM lens (AmazonB&HAdorama) and  Nikon Nikkor Z 50mm F1.2 S lens ( Amazon/B&H/ Adorama), while the price is much cheaper!

Below is the conclusion, “Sony’s necessarily bulky 50mm F1.2 G Master is feels quite a handful on a slinky mirrorless body but handling is nevertheless very refined. There are two customisable lens function buttons (nominally focus hold), a manual aperture ring with a switchable de-click mode, and a silky smooth manual focus ring which works a treat with magnified preview. Autofocus is fast and deadly accurate, while image quality is simply epic in every respect. There’s no denying it’s a pricey lens, but you get what you pay for and more besides
