Sigma to Announce 500mm F5.6 Lens for mirrorless cameras on February 21st?

SAR leaked the first image of the rumored  Sigma 500mm F5.6 lens for full-frame camera, which will be announced on February 21st. Additional information I obtained is as follows.

  •  Lightweight lens
  •  AF is very fast in combination with Sony A1
  •  Very little chromatic aberration
  •  Compatible with Sony E mount and Leica L mount

They have gathered information on pricing and this lens will be much cheaper than the more expensive 400mm GM and 600mm GM. It will be $1,500 to $2,000 cheaper than Sigma’s 500mm F4 for Canon and Nikon.

Previously, there were rumors that Sigma would announce a new product in February, but it seems that what will be announced is the 500mm F5.6 telephoto single focus lens for mirrorless cameras. Super telephoto prime lenses such as Nikon’s Z 400mm f4.5 and Z 600mm f/6.3, which are reasonably bright, lightweight, compact, and easy to handle, are gaining popularity, but Sigma’s 500mm F5.6 is also on the same path.
