Zeiss has officially announced the new Batis 18mm f/2.8 lens for Sony full frame mirrorless cameras. The Zeiss Batis 2.8/18 lens costs $1,499 in USD, now available for pre-order at B&H Photo Video and Adorama.com (Pre-order links will be available soon). It will be released in May, 2016.

According to rumors from SAR, the upcoming Sony Alpha a9 full frame mirrorless camera will have a DSLR alike design. Sony a9 will be the new flagship camera from Sony to beat Nikon D5 and Canon EOS-1D X Mark II. And Sony a9 will be E-mount, not A-mount.

Along with Sony RX10 III cyber-shot camera, Sony USA also announced two FE lenses for Sony a7 series full frame mirrorless cameras.
The Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 is a prime lens, giving photographers a considerably less expensive option compared to the Zeiss 55mm F1.8 currently on the market. This compact and lightweight lens is priced at $249 and will ship in May.
The Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS lens is the longest FE-mount tele-zoom available. It features four aspherical and two ED elements, optical image stabilization, and a Nano AR coating to reduce flare and ghosting. It’s also sealed against dust and moisture. The lens offers a minimum focus distance of 0.9m/3ft, and uses a linear actuator for smooth and silent autofocus. The 70-300 will also be available in May at a price of $1199.
