According to the latest rumors from CR2, Canon EOS R1 may not come until the 2nd half of 2023.
I’ve heard that the EOS R1 can’t be expected to appear in the near future, as retailers say it won’t be available until the second half of 2023.
This isn’t all that surprising, as Canon and other camera companies are suffering from supply shortages. I think Canon wants to further enhance its lens lineup before the introduction of Canon EOS R1.
Canon EOS R1 will probably become a body when professionals using the 1DX series get a chance to move to mirrorless in earnest. Some may have already moved to Canon EOS R3, but many news agencies haven’t yet introduced a Canon mirrorless camera because the camera is hard to come by.
I think it makes more financial sense to have more EOS RP and EOS R successors and interchangeable lenses.
Since the supply of Canon EOS R3 has been in short supply since its launch, Canon may want to release Canon EOS R1 after a stable supply.
Currently, it seems Canon EOS R7 is also in short supply, so it may be better not to expect much of the new model to be introduced at a fast pace.
