LockCircle announced LockPort D800 secure HDMI ports for Nikon D800

Accessory maker LockCircle has announced it will offer its ‘LockPort’ durable HDMI socket bracket for the Nikon D800. The LockPort800 combines a mounting plate that secures to the base of the camera with a miniHDMI-to-standard HDMI adapter that bolts onto it. This provides an easy-access full-size HDMI connector while also protecting your camera’s miniHDMI socket from damage. The mounting plate is designed so that the camera can still be used with other mounts, tripod plates and accessories, in tandem with the LockPort. The LockPort800 will be available from June 2012 at a cost of $199/€99.

DxO Optics Pro 7.2.3 now supports 5D Mark III

DxO Optics Pro 7 is one of best image software corrects for various optical aberrations, notably image distortion, with corrections tuned to particular lenses and cameras. Nikon confirmed the D4 / D800 lockup issue

In a statement to PDN Online, Nikon USA acknowledged the D4 / D800 lockup issue. Nikon is currently working on a permanent solution, Nikon has not said whether the permanent solution will involve a firmware update for the D4 and D800 but it seems likely. In the mean time you can turn off both the ‘Highlights’ and ‘RGB Histogram’ display options in order to avoid this problem:

How Canon Fixed “Light Leak” 5D Mark III Body

After light leak problem, LensRentals.com has received their first shipment of fixed “new” 5D Mark III bodies. They did what any of us would have done, they disassembled one to see what the fix was. It turns out the fix is two pieces of black tape. This sort of thing is pretty normal inside electronics, so don’t be worried about tape coming off and that sort of thing. This is just perfectly good solution and it works flawlessly.
