Nikon Z8 Sensor Review (DXOMark): 98 Points!

DXOMark tested the sensor of the newly released Nikon Z8. The CMOS sensor of Nikon Z8 achieved a high DXOMARK score of 98 points, the same as Sony A1 and Nikon Z9.

Camera Total point Color Depth dynamic range LL ISO
Z 8 98 26.3 14.2 2548
Z 9 98 26.3 14.4 2451
Z 7II 100 26.3 14.7 2841
Sony A1 98 25.9 14.5 3163
Sony A7R V 100 26.1 14.8 3187
EOS R5 95 25.3 14.6 3042
DC-S1R 100 26.4 14.1 3525

Nikon calls Nikon Z8 the “successor” to Nikon D850, and it’s not so difficult to see why. Nikon Z8 is an immensely versatile and flexible camera. While the speed advantages of a stacked CMOS are clear, image quality is also excellent.
