After Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z Lens (B&H/ Adorama) was officially announced, another super telephoto RF lens is coming! According to CR, it will be Canon RF 200-500mm F5.6L IS USM Lens.
Canon RF 200-500mm f/5.6L IS USM would undoubtedly represent an upgrade over the impressive RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM, thanks to enhancements in both optical quality and overall performance. It’s likely that this new lens would feature an internal zoom design. While I have mixed feelings about the f/5.6 aperture of the RF 200-500mm, there are valid reasons for this choice. Firstly, it would make the lens more affordable compared to an f/4 option. For instance, Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM 1.4x was priced around $11,000 at launch. Additionally, the weight factor cannot be overlooked; this lens would be much easier for many to handle. Coupling the lower price with its practical usability could lead to strong sales.
