Insta360 has officially launched the X6 (Amazon/B&H Photo Video), its new flagship 360 camera. The biggest leap is imaging: dual Sony custom square sensors delivering what Insta360 calls 1-inch imaging, paired with native 8K50fps 360 video and a heavier focus on AI-assisted editing.
US pricing starts at $699.99 for the Standard Bundle and $769.99 for the Essentials Bundle — a clear step up from the X5.
Bigger Sensors, Faster 8K
Insta360 co-engineered dual square sensors with Sony and positions the X6 around a 33% larger imaging area versus the previous generation, with claims of richer HDR and substantially more light per pixel. On the video side, the headline mode is 8K50fps 360, with PureVideo aimed at low-light / night scenes.
Other image tools include AdaptiveTone 2.0, 10-bit color, I-Log, and what Insta360 says is the first native in-camera Dolby Vision support on a 360 camera. Stills climb to 120MP panoramic photos.
Triple AI Chip + Less Editing
A Qualcomm 4nm flagship processor works alongside two dedicated AI imaging chips for stitching, stabilization, noise reduction, and color. On the software side, Insta360’s in-house PanoMind model powers highlight detection, while AI Director and Auto Edit 2.0 push toward “charge and get a cut” workflows.
InstaFrame 2.0 also lets the X6 act more like a pocket gimbal / ultra-wide action cam, with flat output up to 5K60fps or 4K120fps and a claimed 170° FOV option.
