Sony a7 V: November Announcement Expected, Q1 2026 Release Date

Sony is gearing up for what could be the photography world’s highlight of the year: the highly anticipated Sony a7 Mark V. According to three reliable sources, Sony has confirmed that a7V shipments will begin in Q1 2026, suggesting a possible announcement as early as mid-November 2025, same announcement date to Canon EOS R6 Mark III.

What We Know So Far

The leaked specifications paint an intriguing picture of Sony’s upcoming full-frame camera:

Sensor & Performance: A leaked image suggests a 33-megapixel sensor, though it remains unclear whether this is a refined version of the A7IV’s sensor or an entirely new partially stacked design. The camera will feature Sony’s latest AI chip, similar to the A1II.

Design & Build: The A7V will adopt the same body design as the A7rV, including the popular 4-way fully articulating screen and familiar control layout. However, it will not feature the specialized grip design found on the A1II and A9III models.

Pricing & Availability: Expected to retail around $3,000, the camera represents Sony’s continued commitment to the enthusiast and professional full-frame market. With shipments planned for January or February 2026, photographers will need to exercise patience following the announcement.

This release follows Sony’s recent launch of the excellent 100mm GM macro lens, continuing the company’s momentum in expanding its Alpha system lineup.
