Sigma announced the new Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG | Art lens . It  is a super-fast portrait prime for L and E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. It is currently being developed by Sigma with an expected launch in September 2026.

Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG Art lens is now listed at B&H. The price is not revealed.

Sigma has officially expanded its premium Art series with the introduction of the 85mm F1.2 DG DN Art, a large-aperture medium-telephoto prime engineered specifically for full-frame mirrorless cameras. This new lens is designed to deliver exceptional optical performance, even when shooting wide open at f/1.2, making it an ideal tool for portrait photographers seeking that signature, ultra-shallow depth of field with smooth, ethereal background separation.

Leveraging Sigma’s latest optical architecture, the lens is constructed to minimize aberrations and maximize resolution across the entire frame, ensuring critical sharpness on high-megapixel bodies. The bright f/1.2 aperture not only excels in low-light conditions but also provides photographers with precise control over focus and mood, allowing subjects to stand out with striking dimensionality.

Despite its fast aperture, Sigma has prioritized portability and handling. The 85mm F1.2 DG DN Art features a refined mechanical design that balances compactness with robust build quality. At its core, a dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) focusing system enables fast, quiet, and highly accurate autofocus, ensuring reliable performance for both stills and video in professional shooting environments.

With this release, Sigma now completes its trilogy of f/1.2 prime lenses for mirrorless systems. The 85mm joins the recently updated Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG DN II Art and the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art, offering photographers a consistent, high-performance set of fast primes covering classic focal lengths. Each lens in this trio shares a unified design language and operational feel, making them a compelling choice for professionals building a versatile, fast-aperture kit. The new 85mm F1.2 is expected to be available in Sony E-mount and Leica L-mount configurations, with pricing and availability to be announced soon.
