According to Canon Rumors, Canon currently is working on a new Canon EOS-1D S with an 50.6MP Canon EOS 5Ds image sensor. The release date of this flagship DSLR camera will not be very soon, it will after the release of Canon EOS-1D X Mark II.
The release of this Canon EOS-1D S high megapixel camera depends on the sales of Canon EOS 5Ds and 5Ds R. And there’s been people over the years that have never felt the amalgamation of the EOS-1 line was going to last forever. There are ergonomics attached to the EOS-1 bodies that a lot of people have a hard time moving away from.
