Video-First Architecture with Professional Specs
The EOS R6 V is essentially a re-housed, video-optimized version of the unannounced EOS R6 Mark III. To cater to videographers and content creators, Canon has removed the Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) and added active cooling, resulting in a shorter, thicker, yet lightweight body weighing just 598g.
Despite its compact size, the camera boasts incredible internal recording capabilities, including 7K RAW video and Open Gate (3:2) RAW modes, both requiring a CFexpress Type B card. It supports frame rates up to 4K at 119.9fps and Full HD up to 179.8fps. For professional color grading, both Canon Log 2 and Canon Log 3 are built-in, alongside 4-channel audio support.
Surprising Photographic Capabilities
While aimed at video shooters, the R6 V doesn’t compromise on stills. It features a 32.5-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor driven by the DIGIC X processor. Surprisingly, it retains a fully mechanical shutter alongside an electronic shutter, allowing for continuous shooting speeds up to 40fps.
