Today Nikon recalled some of the EN-EL15 rechargeable Li-ion batteries that are used with the Nikon D7000, D800, D800E and Nikon 1 V1 cameras. The described reason for the recall is overheating. There were no overheating cases reported from users, the problem has been discovered during the manufacturing process.

DxOMark Lab: Canon EOS 5D Mark III Vs. Nikon D800 in testing
Canon just release the new popular DLSR “5D Mark III“, with independent tests suggesting the core performance of its new 22-megapixel sensor is little improved from the 5D Mark II it replaces. Hot on the heels of Canon’s embarrassing confirmation that the hardware design of the EOS 5D Mark III has a flaw that allows light into the body, testing by specialists DxO Labs indicate only minor advantages from the new model and – unlikely to help in the ongoing Canon vs. Nikon platform war – performance still lagging behind that of the D800.
Nikon D800 Vs. Nikon D700 Specs Comparison
Now that the Nikon D800 is released, I am sure many photographers will be interested in seeing feature differences between the now obsolete Nikon D700 and the new D800. In this Nikon D800 vs Nikon D700 comparison, I will write about the specifications of both cameras and talk about their differences. Please keep in mind that the information below is purely based on specifications. A detailed comparison with image samples and ISO comparisons will be provided once I get a hold of the Nikon D800 in March.

Nikon D800 Vs. Nikon D800E
It has been over 3 years since Nikon released its D700, a nice full frame camera that we use almost every day in the DR office. There have been dozens of rumours about a slightly improved 700S but we have pointed out that Nikon will skip 700S and release D800 with the D3S capability, better movie mode and increased sensor resolution. While we weren’t sure why a Nikon D4 won’t come out with these specs first, we were convinced in mid-2010 that a 16MP D800 was imminent. However Nikon decided to release D7000 instead, and we guess the D800 went back to the drawing board because it was not considered competitive enough to take on the 5D Mark II market.
