There are a lot of rumors on 7D Mark II, and most said that 7D Mark II will be released in 2014. But today, according to Canonrumors, the rumored 7D Mark II will not be released, it seems Canon has changed the plan of new product announcements.

Does Canon feel there’s no future in the APS-C segment? Has the production costs of full frame sensors come down enough to do away with APS-C at the $1500 price point? Is the EOS 70D all you need as an APS-C shooter?
What is apparent is that both Nikon and Canon appear to have abandoned the “prosumer” DSLR segment. The D7100 and the 70D are both very capable cameras. However, they don’t scream “pro” in feature sets or build quality.

That is horrible news!!! I have a 7D, 50D and an XTI. I wanted to retire the XTI from the football field and use the 7D MK2 as my main. I can’t afford the 1DX and was hoping to get my hands on the rumored 10-12 fps WTH
Not good, i like my 7D and are waiting for a successor. The 70D is not weather sealed, no CF Card for Speed, missing the “joystick”
I would not put too much credence in this. The 7D created a new benchmark (and market for Canon) when it was released and the 7D Mk II is one of the most hotly awaited bodies in years (actually since the 7D itself). I believe the 7D Mk II will eventuate.

it would be ridiculous for Canon to ask users to stick with old 7D or downgrade to a crummy 70D instead of coming out with a 7DMkII soon.
and ditto if Nikon does not comes out with a D400 and insists on users to buy D7100 instead.
people will just move along and buy Sony and Olympus and Fuji instead. I would.
