Recent rumors show that the Nikon D400 is to be announced in late 2013 or early 2014. Nikon has been working on a new generation EXPEED 4 processor and advance AF system for the Nikon D400. Since Nikon D7100 is not the flagship DX DSLRs from Nikon, D400 is definitely coming in next few months.
Rumored specs for Nikon D400:
- Same 24 MP sensor as on the D7100
- New EXPEED 4 processor
- New AF system
- Same 51 point Advanced Multi-CAM 3500DX as on the D7100
- 91K metering sensor from the D800
- Bigger buffer that is 2-3 times larger than on the D7100
- 8-9 fps continuous shooting speed
- Bigger and heavier full magnesium alloy body
- Same controls as on the D800
- Mainly for wildlife and sports shooters
- $1,799 MSRP price

I just stepped into Nikon DX after using mirror-less. happy to hear Nikon Doesn’t give up pro-grated DX body’s cause I’v invested in a 17-55 f2.8 DX lens
So, FX or DX?
I’d say DX since it has the exact same censor as the D7100.
Can’t wait… luv the features.
But the D7100-sensor is rather old now, from 2013. Strange if they don’t make a new one.
