SAR has published rumors regarding the announcement of the Sony α7R VI and new interchangeable lenses.
All signs point to the Sony A7R VI arriving as early as May 2026, and it is shaping up to be a significant leap forward. The headline feature is a new 67-megapixel full-frame stacked CMOS sensor, a major upgrade from the 61MP sensor in the current Sony A7R V . This “partially stacked” design promises to dramatically improve readout speeds, effectively reducing the rolling shutter effect that has plagued previous high-resolution models.
This new sensor architecture unlocks impressive speed, with rumors suggesting 30fps 14-bit RAW continuous shooting with full AE/AF tracking. The A7R VI is also expected to become a video powerhouse. It is rumored to be Sony’s first camera capable of recording 10K/30p video, along with 8K/60p and 4K/120p, likely using a 10K oversampling method for incredible detail .
Other rumored highlights include a new BIONZ XR2 processor, a professional-grade AI autofocus system, and up to 8.5 stops of in-body image stabilization . It is also said to feature a new body design, a high-brightness 9.44-million-dot EVF, and 6GHz Wi-Fi support. If these rumors hold true, the A7R VI will be a true hybrid camera, finally marrying ultra-high resolution with high-speed performance.
