Sigma to Announce Lens for Canon RF mount in February 2024!

CR1 posted Sigma would make an announcement regarding entry into RF mount in February 2024.

In a recent conversation with an employee at a Sigma agency in one country, we learned that there may be some announcements from Japanese third-party manufacturers in February. February is shaping up to be a big month for RF mounts.

In this conversation, we learned that Sigma is likely to announce, or at least announce, two RF (or RF-S) zoom and prime lenses early next year. Although Sigma distributors are not informed of exactly what products Sigma plans to release, they are informed of the future demand that Sigma’s RF/RF-S lenses will bring.

We don’t know whether Sigma will introduce a full-frame lens or an APS-C lens when it enters the RF mount market. We are not going to the licensing process for RF mounts. We expect that the negotiation process between Canon and third parties will be protected by non-disclosure agreements.

We imagine at least some of the Sigma lenses released in the last year or two have been designed with the RF mount in mind.
There have been many rumors about Sigma’s entry into the RF mount, but so far nothing has materialized, and we hope it will come true this time, but what will happen?

When Sigma enters the RF mount market, we am curious about whether there will be any restrictions on the lenses it releases (APS-C only, etc.), and how much licensing fees will be added.
