According to latest rumors on NL, there are two different sensor cameras in testing for upcoming Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, one is 18MP sensor, the other is 24MP sensor. The 24MP sensor is likely to come to 5D Mark IV final version. The continuous shooting speed is most like less than 8 fps. Canon has spent a lot of money on 5D Mark IV project, with the hope of a big jump in features and performance over the more-than-capable EOS 5D Mark III.
From NL:
A report (thanks) of 5D4 testing, where there is still a mix between 18 and 24MP. 24MP is the likely final outcome, with the lower MP sensor testing AF speed and buffer management issues (less than 8FPS is the likely shooting speed).
Another rumors from CR said 5D Mark IV will be released after Canon EOS C300 Mark II and Canon EOS-1D X Mark II.

They won’t have me going from my Mark 111 with those kind of specs
That new Sony that’s coming out in August is starting to call my name…we will wait and see
“Canon has spend a lot of money on 5D Mark IV project”, maybe we will see some new great features, let’s wait and see !
I will wait Ethan. Long time Canon user. I know it’s hard to please everyone.
At a minimum, this camera body should at least be the equal of the Nikon D810 but preferably be the equal of the new Sony Alpha a7R II (no mirror, fantastic sensor, etc.) I am one Canon owner that is tired of Canon falling behind in their bodies although I LOVE L glass!!!
That makes no sense at all. Why would they down grade it? That defeats the purpose of an update.
Anything less than 8fps is not worth buying for me.
