Travelodge is one of the largest budget hotel chains in the UK, with over 570 properties across the country. As a budget chain, Travelodge aims to provide simple, affordable accommodations for travelers and families. I recently stayed at the Travelodge in central London for three nights and here is my review:

Check-in and lobby area: The check-in process at the Travelodge was quick and hassle-free. The front desk staff members were polite and efficient as they checked me in within a few minutes. The lobby area is plainly decorated but clean, with a sitting space, vending machines, and an elevator to access the upper floors. It serves its purpose fine but does not have any special touches or flair.

Guest room: My room at the Travelodge was basic but met my needs during my stay. As expected for a budget room, the furnishings and décor were sparse, consisting of a queen bed, nightstand, dresser, desk and chair. However, the room and bathroom were clean. The mattress was slightly stiff but still allowed me to get decent sleep. I also appreciated the in-room coffee maker and hairdryer. The room lacked climate control though – there was heating but no air conditioning system.

Facilities and amenities: In terms of facilities, the Travelodge features a small fitness space with one treadmill and elliptical machine but no weight equipment. There were also no onsite dining options besides vending machines. The hotel does provide free WiFi throughout, which worked reasonably well from my room when browsing the web and checking emails. But for work purposes, the connection was sometimes slow or inconsistent.

Location: A major plus for this Travelodge property is the excellent central London location on Covent Garden. It is within close walking distance to top attractions like the London Eye, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. There are also loads of dining, shopping and entertainment options right around the hotel. The nearby Leicester Square tube station also offers easy access to other areas of London.

Overall: Overall, I was reasonably satisfied with my 3-night stay at the Travelodge in central London. While the hotel lacks amenities, the room provided the basic necessities I needed. Given the prime area location and affordable nightly rate I paid, I received decent value. The Travelodge chain will never compete with luxury hotels – but for budget-conscious travelers like myself just needing a convenient, low-cost place to sleep, it fits the bill nicely. The essentials are there, allowing more money to spend out and about exploring this amazing city. I would likely stay at Travelodge again for future trips based on my recent experience.
