Ricoh GR APS-C camera

Pentax-Ricoh has announced the much rumored and leaked Ricoh GR, a 16.2MP APS-C sensor enthusiast compact camera. The GR continues on from Ricoh’s GR Digital series of high-end, fixed-lens models, gaining a much larger sensor but continuing to offer a 28mm equivalent field of view, now with an F2.8 maximum aperture. It also retains the GRD IV’s high-res 1.2m dot LCD and a range of photographer friendly functions.

Ricoh GR Specifications
  • 16 Megapixel APS-C size CMOS Image Sensor: Its 16 megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor offers low-noise characteristics, super-high resolution with no compromise in image quality or color accuracy.
  • GR ENGINE V & Anti-Aliasing filterless Design: The advanced GR ENGINE V imaging engine offers high-sensitivity shooting with minimal noise and the GR’s anti-aliasing filterless design produces supremely high resolution, color-rich images.
  • Newly designed, 9 blade diaphragm, 28mm F2.8 lens: The GR’s fixed wide angle 18.3mm F2.8 GR lens, equivalent to 28mm in the 35mm format, provides high resolution images with edge-to-edge sharpness. With its nine blade diaphragm, the GR lens produces a natural Bokeh effect at larger apertures.
  • High Speed Autofocus System with Continuous shooting: The high speed autofocus system captures crisp subjects in a mere 0.2 seconds, and start-up time is only one second. The GR’s AF Continuous Shooting function captures a series of photos at a maximum speed of four images per second
  • Designated AF (auto focus) & Aperture Preview buttons: Enjoy DSLR-like handling and functionality with an AF button, accessible with the thumb on the back panel. An aperture preview button has also been added to the camera’s side panel for quick confirmation of the depth of field before shooting
  • Pocket-sized compact with portable design: Despite its large image sensor, the GR has a compact and portable design. Its casing is made of a lightweight magnesium alloy, while its exterior design retains the style typical of the GR series.
  • Capture Standard JPG or DNG RAW: Capture both JPG and open-standard DNG RAW images. The GR offers a variety of computer-free image processing functions, including in-body RAW-data developmentto output JPEG format files.
  • Full 1080p h.264 HD video recording: Capture full HD video in widescreen 1080p resolution (1920×1080) with efficient, high quality h.264 compression at 30 frames per second. The AutoFocus system remains active with movement as the camera continuously focuses subjects in the center of its angle of view.
  • ISO up to 25600: Supported by its large sensor and the advanced imaging engine, the GR offers high sensitivity shooting from ISO100 all the way to ISO 25600 with minimal noise.
