OM System M.Zuiko Digital ED 20mm F1.4 Pro Lens Officially Announced

OM Digital Solutions has just officially announced the first lens under its new brand, ‘OM SYSTEM’ which replaces the legacy Olympus branding. OM System  M.Zuiko Digital ED 20mm F1.4 PRO lens is billed as a high-performing, fast and lightweight (247g / 8.7oz) prime lens for Micro Four Thirds, offering a standard ‘normal’ focal length of 40mm equivalent.

This  new lens costs $799, first available for pre-order at B&H/ Adorama.

Like previous F1.2 PRO lenses, the new 20mm is designed to deliver what the company calls ‘feathered bokeh’ when shot wide open. It has an optical formula comprising 11 elements in 10 groups, including three ED (extra low-dispersion) elements, one ‘Super ED’ element, two super HR (high-refractive) elements and two aspherical elements.

Key features:

  • Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture helps to achieve shallow depth of field and selective focusing effects, and also benefits working in difficult lighting conditions.
  • Two aspherical elements, three ED elements, one super ED element, and two Super HR elements are used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortions and optimize light transmission in order to provide increased sharpness and more accurate rendering.
  • ZERO (Zuiko Extra-Low Reflection Optical) coating for reduced lens flare and optimal color transmission.
  • Fluorine lens coating repels dust and grime.
  • Movie & Still Compatible High Speed Imager (MSC) autofocus system benefits both photo and video applications due to its smooth, quiet, and fast performance.
  • Manual Focus clutch.
  • Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing feathered bokeh quality.
