Nikon Corporation (Nikon) today announced the release of the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4, a wide-angle, prime lens compatible with full-frame and FX-format mirrorless cameras that use the Nikon Z mount.
The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 is a wide-angle prime lens with a bright maximum aperture of F1.4 and an affordable price. In addition to being able to easily enjoy soft expressions that take advantage of the large bokeh and three-dimensional depictions that make the subject stand out, the wide-angle 35mm angle of view allows you to shoot a wide range of scenes and subjects with just this one lens, such as landscapes, snapshots, people, flowers, and pets. By taking advantage of the minimum shooting distance of 0.27m, you can get as close as possible to subjects such as food and flowers, and you can create works that emphasize the main subject by blurring the background greatly. Despite its maximum aperture of F1.4, it has a total length of approximately 86.5mm * and a weight of approximately 415g, which is close to the size of the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S (released in September 2018), making it easy to use on a daily basis and easy to take with you when you go out. In addition, the high optical performance unique to NIKKOR Z lenses allows for clear depictions with little color cast and good clarity. When shooting close-up portraits, the area around the face is soft and the eyelashes are clear, while narrowing the aperture for landscape photography results in a sharp depiction, allowing you to arrange the expression according to the photographer’s intention. As a wide-angle prime lens that is highly cost-effective and can be used in a wide range of scenes, it will strongly support users who want to broaden their range of expression and take on more serious photography.
Nikon will continue to pursue new dimensions in optical performance to meet user needs, and contribute to the development of imaging culture, aiming to further expand the possibilities of imaging expression.
