The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 and 5i deliver powerful gaming performance in a subtle, mature design. Available in 15-inch and 17-inch sizes, these laptops pack the latest AMD Ryzen and Intel processors alongside high-end NVIDIA RTX graphics. Configurations can be equipped with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H or Intel Core i7-11800H CPU and a RTX 3070 GPU to handle demanding games.
Both models share many similarities including rapid refresh rate IPS displays ranging from 165Hz to 240Hz. These premium screens combine with fast components for super smooth frame rates in games. The Legion Pro supports NVIDIA G-Sync or Advanced Optimus for variable refresh rates and minimal screen tearing. Brightness levels reach 400-500 nits for vivid HDR visuals.
For cooling, Lenovo implemented an intelligent Coldfront 3.0 system using vapor chamber technology and powerful fans. Four exhaust vents ensure heat effectively dissipates for stable thermals during lengthy gaming sessions. The Legion Pro 5 and 5i largely avoid thermal throttling under heavy loads.
The refined chassis ditches flashy gamer aesthetics for a clean, professional look using a low-profile aluminum body. A 4-zone RGB keyboard and trimmed down logo provide just the right amount of flair. Despite packing a 15 or 17-inch display, both models remain reasonably portable at around 5.5 pounds.
Connectivity is excellent with WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, an ethernet jack, USB-C and USB-A ports, HDMI, and more. The 1080p webcam is better quality than most laptops. Battery life is average for a gaming laptop at roughly 5 hours of web browsing and productivity use. Gaming drains it faster.
For high-refresh rate 1080p or 1440p gaming, the Legion Pro 5 and 5i deliver superb performance thanks to AMD/Intel processors and RTX graphics. The refined design separates it from stereotypical gamer aesthetics. Superior cooling and vivid screens provide an immersive experience. Around $1,300-$1,800 gets you capable 1080p gaming or $1,800-$2,200 for sharper 1440p. For the combination of power and practicality, the Legion Pro models strike an ideal balance as premium yet reasonably priced gaming laptops.
