First leaked image of the upcoming RF 45mm f/1.2 STM (Amazon/B&H Photo Video) —a lens that’s generating quite a buzz. Good bargains are rare in the lens world, so let’s hope this one lives up to the hype.
Rumored Specifications:
- Optical quality comparable to the EF 50mm f/1.2L USM
- Digital Focus Breathing Correction
- 67mm filter thread
- Weight: 346g
- Price: €499 or €599 (both figures have been mentioned)
The size appears quite appealing based on the available images.
Analysis
This lens can be viewed as a spiritual successor to the three-decade-old EF 50mm f/1.4 USM. While fast aperture lenses aren’t for everyone, this could offer newcomers an accessible upgrade path (relatively speaking) beyond the RF 50mm f/1.8 STM for those curious about exploring wider apertures.
