DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Confirmed, to be Announced in Next Few Weeks

The appearance of the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro in the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database has sparked excitement among tech enthusiasts. This development typically signals an impending product launch, as FCC filings usually precede official release dates.

The FCC’s role in issuing unique codes to companies for their wireless products is crucial. It ensures that new devices meet US safety standards and don’t interfere with other electronic equipment. Once a product receives an FCC code after thorough testing, its public release is likely on the horizon.

What sets this new DJI camera apart is the addition of the “Pro” designation, a first for the Action series. This suggests that the Osmo Action 5 Pro may boast advanced features that could potentially outperform competitors like GoPro’s Hero 12 Black. Building on the success of the Osmo Action 4, launched in August 2023, the new model is expected to offer significant improvements.

Speculation is rife about potential upgrades, with many anticipating the inclusion of a 1-inch sensor. This would be a substantial improvement over the current model’s 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, bringing it in line with competitors such as the Insta360 One R and Ace Pro. It’s worth noting that DJI’s recent Osmo Pocket 3 already features a 1-inch sensor.

Other anticipated enhancements include improved battery life, better video performance, advanced photography modes, and possibly higher-resolution video recording. These upgrades would justify the “Pro” moniker but may also result in a higher price point compared to the current Osmo Action 4, which retails for $299.

As DJI prepares to launch this new action camera, tech enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting official announcements and specifications. Additionally, rumors suggest that DJI may also be gearing up to release a new Air series drone in the near future.
