According to latest rumors, Nikon is rumored to release a new high-speed full frame mirrorless camera ahead of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This camera could be the ‘Nikon Z9H‘, it is aims to push the boundaries of speed and performance for professional sports and wildlife photographers.
Nikon has a strong history of releasing high-speed cameras timed with past Olympic Games. The revolutionary D1H was launched just before the 2000 Sydney Olympics, while the groundbreaking D3 arrived shortly before the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The rumored Z9H looks to continue this tradition as Nikon’s flagship camera for the 2024 Olympics.
According to early rumors, the Z9H could pack a high-speed sensor capable of recording photos and videos without distortion with ‘global shutter’ technology that is on just announced Sony a9 III.
The Z9H is said to deliver blazing fast burst shooting speeds, possibly up to 120 fps with autofocus/autoexposure tracking. This would surpass even the impressive 30fps continuous shooting of Nikon’s current Z9 model. Such incredible speeds open up new possibilities for capturing split-second moments in sports, action, and wildlife photography.
Resolution is tipped to be approximately half of the Z9’s 45MP count. This resolution drop is expected to enable the super-fast readout speeds required. A high resolution mode could also be included for situations that demand ultra-fine detail over sheer speed.
While details remain scant, the Z9H looks set to be Nikon’s most capable camera yet. For professionals photographing the fast-paced action of the 2024 Olympic Games, the Z9H could provide the cutting-edge performance they demand. With Nikon’s advanced Z-mount system and mirrorless advantages, the Z9H has enormous potential to deliver a new benchmark in speed, accuracy and image quality.
