The rumored 7D Mark II now got some new specs. CR posted a list of specs from a known source in a while this weekend. 7D Mark II is said to be announced in this summer or fall.
Here are the Canon EOS 7D Mark II rumored specs:
- 24.1mp APS-C Sensor
- Dual DIGIC V
- 10fps
- Dual Memory Card Slots (Unknown configuration)
- 61 AF Points (I wonder if we’ll get red focus points in AIS?)
- 3.2″ LCD
- Build quality like 5D3
- GPS & Wifi
- $2199 ($500 more than the 7D at launch, I’d like to see such a camera come in under $2000)
- ISO Performance to get close to the 5D3
- “Lots of video features”
The 7D Mark II will basically be a mini EOS-1D X, so the price is a little higher than the current 7D.

I’d like to see a camera under 1500, eliminate the video, which I never use and why do we need GPS & wifi, we don’t all have an endless wallet even the 6d which I prefer is over 2000,
one of the reasons why i chose 6d was because of wifi and gps.
61 AF points !! I don’t believe that…
I own the 5D mark III Can’t believe they left out the wifi and gps on it.
thats why we have the 6d 🙂 which is a fantastic dslr
i was hoping this would be much cheaper.
PRICE: $3,000 (BELIEVABLE)
is this full frame?
If 7D Mark II is full frame, so why Canon will make a 6D ?
that doesnt make any sense.
the 7dmk2 would, if they increase all the mentionted specs above, make the 5dmk3 senseless. you would get a way fester dslr with higher mpix rate and the same superb af system for less money. plus a lot of video features. sorry, i dont beliefe that…
Are you considering that 7D is APC-C?. This is a huge difference with 5DMKIII.
Full frame will always be far better. That only difference is what makes 5DMKIII a lot more sense than Current 7D or any future 7D MkII. If the next 7D would be Full frame (I do not think so) it would be a shoot on his own foot for Canon.
IT would be great to have a mix between 7D and 6D: Take the focus-metering system, 8 fps rate, whether seal of the 7D and combine it the Full Frame, WiFi, GPS low light performance of the 6D it would be awesome. I would call that baby the 76D
It’s 2 month now i’m on fields with it ( i suppose it’s 7Dm2 coz Canon didnt tell me , just try and report to them )
APS-C
32Mpxl
8 fps
1920 / 60fps
AutoFocus 45 pts
1 CF cards slot
iso / back screen / view finder / dof button same as 5DM3
GPS ( no wifi )
integrated Flash
heavy as 5Dm3
Well, neither do I think that 7D MK2 will switch over to full frame. BUT, who says that smaller sensors are worse? If you take the RED cameras for instance, their sensors are quite smaller but do deliver a performance that is unreached by canon in term of video quality.
anyway, whats maybe most important to achieve superb picture quality is getting the best lens! I recently bought the tamron 24-70 vc one and I can tell you that it brings the performance of the 5d mk3 out!
no comparison to a kit lense.
…unless you get to shot with a 5dmk3 with the right lens and see, why it is so much expensive
You have have absolutely right ! eliminate the video !!
