DJI has just announced its most advanced gimbals to date: the RS 4 and RS 4 Pro, you can now pre-order at B&H Photo Video/Adorama/Amazon. These cutting-edge stabilizers are accompanied by the Focus Pro, DJI’s first standalone lens control system featuring LiDAR autofocus technology, offering cinematographers an unprecedented level of control and precision.
Both the RS 4 and RS 4 Pro boast a range of shared features designed to elevate the user experience and expand creative possibilities. The gimbals showcase low-friction Teflon coatings on all three axes, ensuring DJI’s smoothest balancing experience ever. Fine-tuning knobs on the tilt axis allow for millimeter-scale adjustments, making it easy to achieve precise balancing when switching cameras and lenses.
DJI’s 4th-generation stabilization algorithm has been optimized to strike the perfect balance between enhanced user experience, camera movement feel, and stability strength. This advanced algorithm delivers dramatically improved performance across various shooting scenarios, including vertical shooting, enabling users to capture dynamic shots with ease.
The RS 4 Pro takes things a step further, offering a powerful payload capacity of up to 10 lb thanks to its carbon-fiber arms. This impressive capability allows the RS 4 Pro to comfortably handle most popular mirrorless and cine-style camera and lens rigs without feeling encumbered. Additionally, the RS 4 Pro features a 20% boost in motor torque across its three axes, ensuring responsiveness, precision, and stabilization even with a maxed-out payload.
One of the standout features of the RS 4 Pro is its exclusive Car Mount mode, perfect for capturing smooth footage from a moving vehicle. This mode optimizes the RS 4 Pro’s stabilization algorithm based on your vehicle’s vibration and wind resistance data, ensuring smooth capture even in the shakiest conditions.
While the RS 4 shares the same 6.6-lb payload as its predecessor, the DJI RS 3, its tilt axis has been extended by 8.5mm, providing more balancing space and mounting options. The RS 4 also supports various professional-grade features, modes, and DJI PRO products, including the new Focus Pro. Dual-Mode Bluetooth technology allows for wireless control of camera shutter and lens zoom via joystick, and pairing the RS 4 with the Focus Pro motor enables lens focus control via dial and zoom adjustment via joystick.
The introduction of the Focus Pro marks a significant milestone for DJI, as it is their first independent AMF lens control system and the first LiDAR focus system offered as a standalone product. The Focus Pro provides cinematographers with a comprehensive focus solution and feature set, including up to 2.5 hours of system power, intuitive screen functions, automatic calibration, data storage for up to 15 lenses, Bluetooth start/stop recording, and mobile recording functions.
The Focus Pro is available in various configurations, including an all-in-one combo that includes the Focus Pro motor, LiDAR unit, grip, and hand unit. A Creator Combo is also available, or components can be purchased separately à la carte.
With the launch of the RS 4, RS 4 Pro, and Focus Pro, DJI continues to push the boundaries of stabilization technology, empowering cinematographers and content creators with the tools they need to bring their creative visions to life.
