Recent rumors shows that the long rumored Canon EOS 7D Mark II will have an integrated grip, which is like a “Baby Canon EOS-1D X”. With this bigger battery in it camara body, 7D Mark II autofocus an EF lens faster than LP-E6. This maybe a good news for sports and wildlife photographers.

As what Chuck Westfall said:

In addition, the EOS-1D X achieves a higher lens motor drive speed with select L-series USM telephoto lenses than the 5D Mark III because of the 1D X’s more powerful battery pack.

  1. That SUX. If you want the extra battery grip it should be an opiton. As a slight female I find the ID too heavy esp with lens like the 70-200 mounted it on when you are shooting for long periods i.e. weddings… UNLESS IT WEIGHTS LESS THIS IS A BAD BAD IDEA FOR WOMEN.

  2. Not sure about other photographers, but I would like the option of being able to remove the battery grip and leaving it at home when I want to travel light.

  3. Build in grip would be a deal breaker for me. I hope it’s a false rumor. No need for it to be built in when an accessory grip would suffice. Makes it too big and bulky for the target buyers. Please Please make it not true…

  4. I have often thought the 7D might be marketed as an APS-C version of the 1D. I hope Canon adds a second memory card slot and beef up the weatherproofing to 1DX standards.

I am seriously looking at a camera that can survive the elements and my first choice, thus far, is the Pentax K-3. If the new 7D comes close to K-3 specs, I’m in!
