With dust on the D600 sensor, nikon says just consult their local nikon service center. Not a big issue for me since I live less than 1 hour from the El Segundo center, but if you live anywhere outside of LA or NY, it is aa issue.
Nikon needs to give D600 owners an extended warranty on sensor issues or they will loose a ton of loyal owners.
I was so excited about the Nikon D600 and ready to buy it, until I read this article about the sensor! I guess I will keep looking at other cameras!
Lucky for me the service center is 2 miles from my house in Los Angeles. Nikon moved to Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles, right at the San Vicente near Beverly Hills. I cleaned my sensor twice already. But after my latest trip it was time to have them fix the camera. I stopped shooting with the D600 after a day of shooting revealed oil spots all over the sensor. 8000 frames later and this camera is a mess.
Ironically I have learned to let Nikon ship the camera back, even though I live so close. They won’t call you and by the time the will call “Post Card” gets to you, your camera will have been sitting there for 3 days. The website is off by 24 hours when it comes to the status.
Nikon: You need to modernize this part of your service process!
Good thing I had my trusty D3s with me or all would have been lost!
