Best External Monitor for Canon EOS R6 Mark II
The Canon EOS R6 Mark II sends 4K 60p, and RAW up to 6000×3374, out of a Micro HDMI port. The rear screen is a 3.0-inch panel of about 1.62 million dots. Recording that RAW signal, rather than the internal movie, takes a compatible recorder. The Atomos Ninja Ultra is the 5.2-inch unit Atomos lists for this camera’s 6K 50p and 59.94p ProRes RAW. How We Picked
The rear screen is 3.0 inches. The HDMI port is what decides the monitor.
- This body outputs 4K 60p, and RAW up to 6000×3374, on Micro HDMI. Canon EOS R6 Mark II specifications: HDMI micro OUT terminal (Type D), HDMI RAW to a compatible recorder, and 4K 60p output. The movie-size table lists 6000×3374 and, with movie cropping, 3744×2106. The rear monitor is 3.0 inches, about 1.62 million dots. With HDMI RAW on, the manual sets the output to Canon Log 3, and the movie written to the card at the same time is 1920×1080.
- The Ninja Ultra is on Atomos’s list for the 6K high frame rates. Atomos EOS R6 Mark II compatibility: ProRes RAW at 6000×3374, with 50p and 59.94p marked for the Ninja Ultra among other recorders, and AtomOS 10.90.00 required. Atomos Ninja Ultra specifications: 5.2-inch 1920×1080 panel, 1000 cd/m², HDMI 2.0, bit depth up to 12-bit for RAW, 151×91.5×31 mm, 360 g.
- The other two monitors split on whether they accept 4K 60p. FeelWorld F6 Plus V2 specifications: 6-inch 1920×1080, 450 cd/m², 235 g, HDMI input including 3840×2160p at 60. Portkeys PT6: 5.2-inch 1920×1080, 600 nits, 100% DCI-P3; Portkeys states the HDMI input takes DCI 4K at 24p and 4K UHD at 30p, not 4K 60p.

Atomos Ninja Ultra View on Amazon View on B&H
| Panel | 5.2 in, 1920×1080, 1000 cd/m², 10-bit (8+2 FRC) |
|---|---|
| On this camera | ProRes RAW 6000×3374, including 50p and 59.94p |
| Input | HDMI 2.0, up to 12-bit for RAW |
| Size and weight | 151×91.5×31 mm · 360 g |
Why it fits the EOS R6 Mark II. Canon’s HDMI RAW sizes are 6000×3374 and, cropped, 3744×2106. Atomos lists the Ninja Ultra for the 50p and 59.94p rates of that 6K frame, and says AtomOS 10.90.00 is required before ProRes RAW from this camera will record. The panel is 5.2 inches at 1000 cd/m², against the camera’s 3.0-inch, 1.62-million-dot screen. HDMI RAW on the camera is locked to Canon Log 3. The file written to the card during that output is 1920×1080, so the 6K picture lives on the recorder, not on the SD card. Atomos also notes that the waveform is disabled on the 59.94p 6K mode.
Buy it when the HDMI RAW signal is the reason for the monitor. Skip it when internal 10-bit 4:2:2 is enough and you only want a larger picture. A cage keeps the Micro HDMI plug from hanging on the body: see the cage guide for the EOS R6 Mark II.

FeelWorld F6 Plus V2 View on Amazon View on B&H
| Panel | 6 in touch, 1920×1080, 450 cd/m² |
|---|---|
| HDMI input | 3840×2160p and 4096×2160p up to 60 |
| Size and weight | 148×93×20 mm · 235 g |
| Power | DC 7–24 V, 8 W or under, DC out for the camera |
Why it fits the EOS R6 Mark II. Canon’s spec sheet lists 4K 60p on the HDMI output, separate from HDMI RAW. FeelWorld’s F6 Plus V2 input table includes 3840×2160p at 60, so that non-RAW signal fits. The screen is 6 inches and 235 g, larger than the camera’s 3.0-inch panel and lighter than the 360 g Ninja Ultra. Brightness is 450 cd/m², well under the Ninja Ultra’s 1000. It does not record ProRes RAW.
Buy it when the job is a bigger frame for 4K 60p HDMI and the card still holds the movie. Skip it for 6K RAW, and skip it in hard sun, where 450 cd/m² is the dimmest panel in this list.

Portkeys PT6 View on Amazon View on B&H
| Panel | 5.2 in, 1920×1080, 600 nits, 10-bit (8+2 FRC) |
|---|---|
| Color | 100% DCI-P3, 1500:1 |
| HDMI input ceiling | DCI 4K 24p or 4K UHD 30p |
| Power and weight | LP-E6 and NP-F plates · 6 W · 165 g on the Portkeys product page |
Why it fits the EOS R6 Mark II. Portkeys rates the PT6 at 600 nits and 100% DCI-P3, brighter than the F6 Plus V2’s 450 cd/m², on a 5.2-inch 1920×1080 panel. The same page lists a Canon LP-E6 battery plate, so it shares a battery type with the camera. Portkeys also says the HDMI input accepts DCI 4K at 24p and 4K UHD at 30p. It does not accept the camera’s 4K 60p HDMI. Set the camera’s HDMI output to 1080p and the 60p monitoring path still works, which is the split Portkeys describes between internal recording and HDMI output.
Buy it for a light monitor and Canon Log 3 preview tools when HDMI is 1080p or 4K 30p. Skip it when the HDMI output stays at 4K 60p. That signal needs the F6 Plus V2, or the Ninja Ultra if you are recording RAW.

If You Need Something Else
A 1500 cd/m² panel is the other daylight option, and it still is not a recorder.
Atomos Shinobi II View on Amazon View on B&H
| Panel | 5 in, 1920×1080, 1500 cd/m², 210 g |
|---|---|
| HDMI | HDMI 1.4 · 4K up to 30p · 1080p up to 60p |
| Body | 151×91.5×20.8 mm, plus a locking HDMI adapter |
Atomos rates the Shinobi II at 1500 cd/m², brighter than the Ninja Ultra’s 1000, at 210 g. The input is HDMI 1.4, so 4K monitoring stops at 30p and 1080p runs to 60p. It does not record the camera’s 6000×3374 RAW. The locking adapter is the practical piece on a Micro HDMI body. Skip it when the feed must stay 4K 60p.

Frequently Asked Questions
What the HDMI RAW menu actually sends
Canon’s movie-size table, with HDMI RAW on, lists 6000×3374, or 3744×2106 when movie cropping is enabled. Frame rates in the NTSC column include 59.94, 29.97, and 23.98. The manual locks that output to Canon Log 3. Atomos records it as ProRes RAW, and marks 6K 50p and 59.94p for the Ninja Ultra.
What the card records while HDMI RAW is on
Canon’s table pairs the HDMI RAW sizes with a 1920×1080 MP4 on the card, IPB Standard or IPB Light. The 6K frame is the HDMI signal. It is not the file on the card.
Why 4K 60p HDMI misses two of these screens
The camera’s spec sheet lists 4K 60p HDMI output. FeelWorld’s F6 Plus V2 input list includes 3840×2160p at 60. Portkeys caps the PT6 at 4K UHD 30p, and the Shinobi II’s HDMI 1.4 input caps 4K at 30p. For those two, 60p monitoring means a 1080p HDMI output.
What drops out at 6K 59.94p on the Ninja Ultra
Atomos marks the waveform as disabled on the 59.94p 6000×3374 mode. The 3.7K 3744×2106 rates are listed without that note. Recording still requires AtomOS 10.90.00.
Which plug the camera uses
Canon specifies an HDMI micro OUT terminal, Type D. A full-size HDMI plug does not fit the body. The Shinobi II ships with a locking cable adapter; the other monitors still need a Micro HDMI cable of their own.
Final Verdict
The Atomos Ninja Ultra is the recorder Atomos lists for this camera’s 6K 50p and 59.94p ProRes RAW. The FeelWorld F6 Plus V2 is the monitor whose HDMI input includes 3840×2160p at 60. The Portkeys PT6 is the 600-nit option with an LP-E6 plate, and its HDMI ceiling is 4K 30p.
