Best Accessories for Nikon COOLPIX P1100
At 3000 mm the EVF is a soda straw. You find the bird, you breathe, it is gone. The accessory Nikon put on the P1100 list for that job is the DF-M1 Dot Sight.
Our Top Picks at a Glance
Reviewed August 2026 · Official P1100 accessory list; the old “carbon tripod + lens plate” kit is not a SKU
Hot-shoe red/green sight so you can reacquire a subject without zooming out of 3000 mm. Folding, brightness adjustable. The P1100-specific buy.

How We Picked These Accessories
- Nikon’s own list, not a 3D-printed kit: The P1100 reference guide optional sheet is EH-8P / EH-73P / EH-5d+EP-5C, UC-E25, BS-1 shoe cover, Speedlights, 77 mm NC / Soft Focus / Circular Polarizer II, MC-DC2, ML-L7, and the DF-M1. In the box: EN-EL20a, LC-77, HB-CP1 hood, UC-E24, AN-DC3 strap. The previous version of this page led with a “heavy-duty carbon fiber tripod with lens support plate.” That is a search string, not a manufacturer part. Tripods belong on the dedicated P1100 tripod page.
- What the body actually is: 16 MP 1/2.3-inch, 24–3000 mm equivalent (4.3–539 mm), 1410 g with battery and card, 146.3 × 118.8 × 181.3 mm. Dual Detect Optical VR is CIPA 4.0 stops, measured at about 350 mm equivalent — not a license to handhold the moon. Stills CIPA about 260 shots on EN-EL20a (7.2 V, 1110 mAh). Movie actual recording about 1 h 10 min. 4K UHD 2160/30p files top out around 6 minutes; Nikon wants UHS Speed Class 3 / V30 or faster. The bus is UHS-I.
- Cables and threads people get wrong: EH-8P in-camera charging needs the optional UC-E25 USB-C-to-C cable. The supplied UC-E24 will not do that job. Filters screw into 77 mm on the lens; no UR-E adapter. Nikon warns that the built-in flash plus a filter can darken the corners. Lowepro Toploader Pro 75 AW II interior is 16.1 × 17.8 × 29.2 cm — the P1100’s 18.1 cm depth fits the long axis.
Best Accessories for Nikon COOLPIX P1100: Detailed Reviews
Nikon DF-M1 Dot Sight View on Amazon View on B&H
| Nikon part | 25953 · VAB14201 |
|---|---|
| Mount | ISO 518 accessory shoe (P1100 has the lock) |
| Reticle | Red or green, brightness steps, folding hood |
| On the list | P1100 reference guide → Sight → DF-M1 |
| Street | About $196–$230 |
Why it is the P1100 accessory. Nikon’s line for the DF-M1 is framing in a telephoto position where it is easy to lose the subject. That is this camera. You zero the dot on a static target at similar distance, then hunt with both eyes: EVF for the shot, sight for the world. It does not project a laser onto the bird. Boxes still say P1000; the shoe is the same and P1100 is on the current optional list. Fold it when you walk so the window does not collect pocketsand.
Skip this if you only shoot landscapes at 24 mm, or you already track with a spotting scope and never lose the perch. Skip cheap airsoft red dots that sit too high and never zero to the taking lens.
- The one accessory that exists because 3000 mm is a soda straw
- On Nikon’s P1100 sheet, not a third-party kludge
- Folds; red/green; brightness
- ~$200 on a camera that already costs about $1,000
- Must be sighted in; useless out of the box on a moving bird

Nikon ML-L7 Bluetooth Remote View on Amazon View on B&H
| Nikon part | ML-L7 · VAJ57201 |
|---|---|
| Link | Bluetooth; pair under Network → Remote control |
| P1100 controls | +/− zoom, shutter (no half-press), movie, multi selector, Fn 1 / Fn 2 |
| Won’t | Work while HDMI is connected |
| Street | About $49 |
Why it beats a $10 IR clicker. The P1100 manual has an ML-L7 page of its own. Fn 1 and Fn 2 on the remote call the same saved functions as the camera’s Fn button in P/S/A/M. Zoom from the handset matters when the camera is on a head and you are not. Shutter has no half-press — AF how you set it, then fire. One remote per body; the last paired unit wins. Wired alternative is MC-DC2 on the accessory terminal if you want a physical cord and no pairing.
Skip this if you never put the P1100 on a support and never shoot Time/Bulb. Skip generic “Nikon wireless remotes” that are ML-L3 infrared.
- Official, ~$49, zoom + Fn on this body
- Stops you punching 1410 g at 3000 mm
- No half-press AF
- Dead on HDMI; one remote at a time

Wasabi Power EN-EL20a 2-Pack + Charger View on Amazon View on B&H
| Fits | EN-EL20 / EN-EL20a (P1100 is EN-EL20a) |
|---|---|
| Wasabi rating | 7.2 V, 1200 mAh (Nikon OEM is 1110 mAh) |
| Kit | Two batteries, fold-out AC charger, car adapter (B006ZZXVCI) |
| CIPA on OEM | ~260 stills / ~1 h 10 min movie |
| Street | About $24 |
Why it is the budget accessory. The P1100 eats power when the lens is racking and the EVF is on. Nikon’s own EN-EL20a is the quiet choice and the fuel-gauge truth. Wasabi’s kit is the field choice: two extra cells and a charger that is not the camera. Wasabi’s site lists P1100 on the EN-EL20a 2-pack. Amazon title lines still say P1000/P950 — same battery family. Third-party percentage readouts can lie; treat “12%” as a suggestion and swap early in the cold.
Skip this if you want the OEM cell in the body at all times — buy Nikon EN-EL20a and keep Wasabi as the spare, or skip third-party entirely. Skip no-name 1800 mAh eBay packs.
- Decoded EN-EL20a kit under $25
- External charger so the camera stays in the hide
- Gauge can disagree with the P1100
- Not Nikon’s 3-hour EH-8P in-body charge path

If You Need Something Else
These are not cheaper DF-M1s. One is the card the 4K mode actually asks for. One is 77 mm glass. One is a holster that fits the 181 mm body. One is a real tripod, not a fake plate kit.
SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB SDXC UHS-I View on Amazon View on B&H
| Need | UHS-I, U3 / V30 for 2160/30p or 2160/25p |
|---|---|
| Skip | UHS-II, microSD+adapter as the daily card, Class 10-only for 4K |
| P1100 slot | SD/SDHC/SDXC · UHS-I |
Nikon’s movie page wants Speed Class 6 / V6 for ordinary clips and UHS Speed Class 3 / V30 for 4K. Extreme PRO UHS-I 128GB is V30 with headroom (SanDisk’s 90 MB/s peak write is marketing; the floor that matters is 30 MB/s). Do not buy a UHS-II “pro” card for this body. Do not buy a microSD in an adapter as the card you leave in the camera.
Skip this if you already have a working V30 SDXC in the slot.

77 mm Nikon NC (or a 77 mm UV) View on Amazon View on B&H
| Thread | 77 mm on the P1100 / P1000 — no adapter ring |
|---|---|
| Official | 77 mm NC, 77 mm Circular Polarizer II, 77 mm Soft Focus |
| Flash | Built-in flash + filter can darken the edges — Nikon’s warning |
The hood HB-CP1 is already in the box. A 77 mm NC or a decent UV is a sacrificial front, not a look. Polarizer II is the water/glass filter on the same list. Soft Focus is an effect, not protection. Do not stack filters under the hood and then fire the popup.
Skip this if you always leave the hood on and never set the camera down on gravel.

Lowepro Toploader Pro 75 AW II View on Amazon View on B&H
| Interior | 16.1 × 17.8 × 29.2 cm (Lowepro) |
|---|---|
| P1100 | 146.3 × 118.8 × 181.3 mm — depth fits the long axis |
| Cover | 360° AW rain cover |
This is a DSLR+70–200 holster that happens to swallow the P1100. It is not a backpack and it will not take the DF-M1 standing up unless you fold the sight. Quick-access for a camera you do not want swinging on a thin strap. Measure once: 181 mm of lens needs that 292 mm well, not a compact “bridge camera” pouch.
Skip this if you already carry a backpack insert that fits.

Manfrotto Befree Advanced Aluminum View on Amazon View on B&H
| Why here | A named travel tripod, not a fake “lens plate kit” |
|---|---|
| Load | Body is 1.41 kg; buy legs rated well above that and keep the column down at 3000 mm |
| More | Best Tripods for Nikon COOLPIX P1100 |
If the last version of this URL sold you a carbon tripod bundled with a PETG barrel clamp, that bundle does not have a part number. A Befree Advanced is a real Manfrotto SKU for walking. For hide work, a 055-class set of legs is stiffer. Either way, the 1/4-20 in the P1100 base is the official socket — ISO 1222. Aftermarket barrel cages exist; they are not Nikon accessories and they are not this page’s Overall anymore.
Skip this if you already own legs that do not flex when the zoom is racked out.

If the Wasabi gauge annoys you, keep OEM in the camera. Do not pay OEM money for a third-party sticker.

Frequently Asked Questions
What card does the P1100 want?
SD/SDHC/SDXC, UHS-I. For 4K (2160/30p or 25p), Nikon recommends UHS Speed Class 3 / V30 or faster. Ordinary movies can use Speed Class 6 / V6. UHS-II cards will still run; they will not run faster than the bus.
Does the DF-M1 fit the P1100 or only the P1000?
The P1100 optional-accessory list includes the DF-M1. It mounts on the accessory shoe. Packaging that still says P1000 is. Sight it in; it is not plug-and-play tracking.
Can I charge with the cable in the box?
The box cable is UC-E24. EH-73P uses that cable. EH-8P needs the optional UC-E25 (USB-C to USB-C). Nikon says the supplied cable cannot charge via EH-8P.
Do I need a special tripod plate?
You need a tripod. You do not need a no-name “P1100 carbon plate” SKU. The camera has a 1/4-20 socket. Barrel supports exist from small makers; they are optional, not the default Overall on this page.
Final Verdict
Buy the DF-M1 if you actually use the long end. Buy the ML-L7 so you stop tapping a 1.4 kg body at 3000 mm. Buy spare EN-EL20a cells because 260 CIPA shots disappear in a hide. Put a V30 UHS-I card in the slot, a 77 mm NC on the front if you want sacrificial glass, and a real tripod — not a search-string “lens support plate” kit. Hood and cap are already in the box.
