Best ND Filters for Fujifilm X-T5 (2026): 40MP, 6.2K, No Built-in ND
The Fujifilm X-T5 is a 40.2-megapixel APS-C stills hybrid with 6.2K video and no ND in the body. The X100VI’s four-stop built-in ND does not exist here. ISO 125, f/2, 1/48 in sun still needs glass on the lens. The 2026 first buy is the PolarPro Peter McKinnon Edition II Variable ND 2–5 Stop in 77 mm — the XF 16–55mm F2.8 thread — not a 49 mm X100 adapter and not an 82 mm Sony.

How We Picked
Three official facts decide the glass. Everything else is a pairing.
- No built-in ND (unlike X100VI). X-T5 is an interchangeable-lens X body. Fujifilm’s four-stop internal ND is an X100-series lens feature. Neutral density here is glass on the XF thread. (Fujifilm X-T5 specifications)
- 40.2MP, ISO 125, 6.2K30, 4K60. Stills ISO 125–12800 (64–51200 expanded). 6.2K is 29.97p and below; 4K goes to 59.94p. 24p still wants ~1/48. (Fujifilm X-T5 movie / ISO tables)
- 77 mm is the 16–55 F2.8 thread. The flagship XF standard zoom is 77 mm (the II is 72 mm). 49 mm is X100. 82 mm is full-frame GM / RF. Buy the thread on the lens. (Fujifilm: ND on X Series is a screw-in, except X100 built-in)

X-T5 ND is a 77 mm screw-in on XF glass. There is no four-stop switch like the X100VI. 2–5 is the ISO 125 first ring.
Fujifilm’s X-T5 specification: 40.2MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 5 HR, stills ISO 125–12800 (64–51200 expanded), movie ISO 125–12800, 6.2K (6240×3510) up to 29.97p, 4K up to 59.94p, IBIS up to 7.0 stops. There is no built-in ND in that list — X100-series leaf-shutter bodies are the ones with an internal ND. Electronic stills shutter is very fast; movie shutter still wants ~1/48 at 24p.
The XF 16–55mm F2.8 R LM WR is 77 mm. That is the zoom that uses this 40MP sensor. XF 16–55mm F2.8 II is 72 mm — use a 72→77 step-up rather than buying a second VND first. Primes (33mm F1.4 is 58 mm; many f/2s are 62/67 mm) step up to 77 mm. Do not start on 49 mm because an X100VI article said 49 mm. Do not start on 82 mm because a Sony article said 82 mm.
At ISO 125, f/2.8, 1/50, noon still wants about five stops. That is a 2–5. F-Log2 and wide-open 33mm F1.4 in hard sun are the 6–9 add-on. 40MP will show a cheap X; PolarPro’s hard stops are the point.
- 77 mm matches XF 16–55 F2.8 — the 40MP standard zoom
- 2–5 covers ISO 125 stills and 6.2K / 4K24–30
- Hard stops; CinemaSeries on a 40MP file
- Not enough alone for F-Log2 noon at f/1.4
- XF 16–55 II is 72 mm — needs a step-up to this 77 mm ring

| Best for | Film simulations in mixed shade |
True Color and a 1-stop floor suit X-T5 film simulations more than a 2-stop minimum.
The X-T5 is a stills camera that people buy for film simulations. Those JPEGs sit at ISO 125. Open shade plus a 2-stop PolarPro can be too dark at f/2.8. NiSi’s 1–5 in 77 mm covers the 16–55 and a step-up from 67 mm primes. True Color is the reason this is Value on a 40MP X-Trans body.
- 1-stop floor for shade / film simulations
- True Color on 40MP
- Same 77 mm as PolarPro
- Silver lever vs XF hood
- F-Log2 noon still wants 6–9

Cheap 77 mm ND2–32. Confirm KF01.1804V1. A 49 mm X100 filter does not belong on this body.
KF01.1804V1 is the 77 mm Nano-X ND2–32. Stay off the last ½ stop — 40MP will record the X. This is not the X100VI 49 mm True Color SKU. IBIS (7 stops) holds a long still; it does not replace the filter for 180° video.
- Correct 77 mm Nano-X SKU
- ND2–32 matches the 2–5 job
- No hard stops
- ND2–400 77 mm listings sit next to it

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the X-T5 have the X100VI’s built-in ND?
No. The four-stop internal ND is an X100-series lens. X-T5 needs a screw-in filter.
Why 77 mm instead of 67 mm or 82 mm?
XF 16–55mm F2.8 is 77 mm. 67 mm is smaller zooms/primes. 82 mm is full-frame. Step smaller lenses up to 77 mm.
What about XF 16–55mm F2.8 II at 72 mm?
Buy a 72→77 step-up and keep one 77 mm VND. Do not make 72 mm the only filter if the original 16–55 is also in the bag.
2–5 or 6–9 first?
2–5. Native ISO 125 and a stills hybrid. 6–9 is F-Log2 / f/1.4 noon.
Does IBIS replace ND?
No. IBIS is rated up to 7 stops for stills. It holds a long exposure; it does not cut 6.2K at 1/48.
Will an X100VI 49 mm NiSi fit?
Not without a ridiculous adapter stack. Wrong system. X-T5 is 77 mm XF.
Final Verdict
The X-T5 is a 40MP APS-C hybrid with 6.2K, ISO 125, IBIS, and no built-in ND. Start with the PolarPro 2–5 77 mm on XF 16–55. Use NiSi 1–5 for film simulations in shade. Use K&F KF01.1804V1 as the cheap 77 mm. Add a 6–9 for F-Log2 noon. Do not copy the X100VI 49 mm kit.
