Phase One announced its new 645DF+ medium-format camera with new mechanics and improved focusing abilities. The companies also announced at the Photokina camera show here the new Schneider Kreuznach 28 LS f/4.5 Aspherical, a very wide-angle 28mm leaf-shutter lens built by Schneider Kreuznach for the Mamiya Leaf-Phase One cameras. The camera and the lens are priced the same; each costs $5,990 or 4,290 euros, and each will ship in October.

Designed for still-life and product photography, the Leica TS-APO-ELMAR-S 120 mm f/5.6 ASPH. is an apochromatically corrected lens offering parallel shifts (shift, rise and fall) of up to 12 mm in all directions and tilting of the plane of focus (tilt and swing) by up to 8°. The Leica TS-APO-Elmar-S 120 mm f/5.6 ASPH. is scheduled to be available in the UK at a suggested retail price of £4,920 including VAT from January 2013.
Hasselblad has announced a plan to release a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, which uses Sony’s E-Mount. The Hasselblad Lunar, which is expected to cost around 5000 Euros (~$6500) appears to share a lot of technology with Sony’s recent NEX, RX1 and A99 cameras, including the same 24.3MP CMOS sensor and OLED ‘True Finder’ EVF, and the same ‘TriNavi’ navigation system as the NEX-7. The Lunar, which is set for launch in the first quarter of 2013, will be available ‘in a choice of standard models plus a variety of exclusive hand grips and precious materials on special order’.

Leica has announced its latest M series rangefinder – the 24MP CMOS Leica M. The company says all future M models will also simply be called the ‘M’. The latest model (referred to as ‘Typ 240’) becomes the first of its rangefinders to feature live view, and offers a choice of magnified view or focus peaking for precise through-the-lens focusing, allowing Leica to promise compatibilty with R-mount lenses. It also becomes the first M capable of movie shooting – capturing 1080p footage at 25 or 24 frames per second. It includes a 920k dot LCD with smartphone-style Gorilla Glass cover, and accepts the same plug-in EVF as used by the X2.
